How many times have you declined to listen to a new band on the basis their name is naff? Japandroids is up there amongst crap band names and so I have no explanation as to why I listened to their album. They are actually a couple of Canadian guys whose debut ‘Post-Nothing’ came out three years ago to impressive critical acclaim. Well ‘Celebration Rock’ (awful album title too!) is their second outing and comes out on 5th June. It’s garage punk but has enough energy, drive and purpose to merit you overlooking those band names.
