Bastille announce new single & tour

Bastille

Bastille release their second single on Virgin Records entitled ‘Bad Blood on August 20th. The ghostly anthem follows the release of their debut single, the cinematic track ’Overjoyed’ which received support across radio including Radio 1 (Zane Lowe, Huw Stevens, Fearne Cotton), Radio 2 (Jo Whiley, Dermot O’Leary) and XFM.

The accompanying video for ‘Bad Blood , directed by Olivier Groulx (Arcade Fire, Cold Specks) tells a surreal tale of a ‘missing at sea’ style disappearance with an eerie denouement.

Bastille are appealing for fans to help with the Bad Blood investigation. Visit here for more details: badblood

For Bastille, things have been accelerating at a fast pace. In a matter of months the band have played a sold out UK tour as well as three sold out shows in London, including a much lauded show at the Scala. Now, Bastille are proud to announce their biggest shows to date this October including a show at London’s Koko.  In addition, the band recently played a storming set at Lovebox and appear at numerous festivals across the summer, Dates as below:

Bastille is the musical guise of ultra talented singer/songwriter and producer Dan Smith. Much like Mike Skinner’s The Streets and Joe Mounts’ Metronomy, he enlists the help of three friends to take his dark, danceable pop rhythms on the road.

Bastille built a word of mouth following online after avid cult film fan Dan uploaded a makeshift D.I.Y video for his track ‘Flaws’, piecing together footage from Terence Malick’s 1973 classic ‘Badlands’. It had over 400,000 views and struck a chord with youtube viewers from all over the world who posted a huge amount of cover versions. ‘ Flaws’ was subsequently released  as a single by indie label Young and Lost Club and Bastille became a firm favourite with bloggers proclaiming them to be creators of ‘the perfect modern day pop song’, whilst including them in their ‘Bloggers Sound of 2012’ poll.

David Lynch’s groundbreaking U.S TV series ‘Twin Peaks’ was the inspiration for the next release entitled ‘Laura Palmer E.P’. It peaked at number 15 on the iTunes chart and Bastille’s online success continued with two of the tracks reaching number one on the Hype Machine chart.

Now it seems there’s no stopping them. Bastille are paving their own way and their infectious tunes and spine tingling live performances are capturing the imagination of a new generation of music fans.
