VIDEO: Shout Timber – ‘East India Trading Company’

Shout Timber draw much influence from their love of vintage American literature and cinema as they do the melodies and honest lyricism of The Smiths, harmonies of The Beatles and the afro-rhythms of Vampire Weekend, this London based four piece are fast establishing themselves as an original, clever yet wholly accessible new talent on the UK scene.
The band built an early fan base with their first release last year “First Love EP”, recorded only four months after the band formed, which garnered attention from the likes of Gray Crowley (BBC London 94.9) and Pete Donaldson (Absolute Radio), who labelled them an unsigned band to watch on his Sunday Night Show, and said of ‘First Love’: “a big fat ‘yes’ from me.” Since then, the band has continued to receive support with radio play from the likes of Amazing Radio and This is Fake DIY.
Shout Timber deliver intelligent, upbeat, melodic indie pop, subtly flavoured with Indian heritage and bona fide class with their release of East India Trading Company in late October 2012.
East India Trading Company, the first of two singles to be released this year, is Shout Timber’s take on travelling through India for the first time – the barrage on the senses that it is: the colours, the people, the sounds, the smell. Both tracks were produced by Tarek Musa (Jethro Fox, Eye Emma Jedi, Kankouran, Spring King) and mastered by the inimitable ear of Tim Debney at Fluid, who have captured a potent balance of Alex and TJ’s Indian roots and the Southern English class of Sam and Will.
The track will be released with a video composed of authentic footage of India –makeshift, spontaneous shots recorded while travelling through the country to make you feel like you’ve just experienced your own road trip through the East. People are the greatest testament to the beauty of a place, and the video holds true to this by presenting the untold stories of the everyday Indian workman.
Previously having supported Tom Williams & the Boat and Fair Ohs Shout Timber are set to perform at Oxjam in Reading on the 20th October
