Track Of The Day #233: UK Subs – Black Power Salute

UK Subs were very much part of the original British punk scene back in the late seventies. They’ve never really made it through to the A list, but have nobly continued the cause ever since. With over seventy members since then, Charlie Harper remains the only original and he turns 104 this year. Earlier this month, they released their 24th album and imaginatively called it ‘XXIV’. Also unimaginatively, their sound hasn’t altered much, like ever. But that’s fine, because there’s bags of energy still and an enjoyable set of accessible punk tunes.
