Track Of The Day #254: Man Tear – Outside Amore

Normally releasing on his own Studio Barnhus label and DJ Koze’s Pampa Records, Axel Boman + his friends Pettar Nordkvist, and Johan Jonason are’Man Tear’ and today’s TOTD is their single ‘Outside Amore’ which was released on 12″ recently on DFA. A chirruping robo grove laced with intricate mini harp and samples: skitters across dusty landscapes while singer Jonason’s feather light continental vocal playfulness is sultry and quite addictive. Its evasive lyrics even hinting at S&M (“now put me down and place me on the whipping board and stop talking about emotions”) it straddles a delectably dappled meeting place between David Bryne’s collaborations with Xpress with and French sonic adventures of Air. It’s a wonderfully cheeky slab of summer disco pop, now let’s hope we get some sun, dammit!
