VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Joyce The Librarian: Traps 2

VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Joyce The Librarian: Traps

The sultry tones of Joyce The Librarian first pranced into my earholes back at Swn 2012. A delightfully ‘naked’ sound achieving real depth in bare instrumentation, leaving lyricist Martin Callingham to do much of the talking… so to speak.

‘Traps’ is taken from the band’s recently released album, They May Put Land Between Us, an unassuming album which will induce feelings of extreme elation on a good day, or if you wake up on the wrong side of bed, it’ll have you crying into your corn flakes.

It’s a beautiful album, and if their stunning video for ‘Follow Me, I’m Right Behind You’ is anything to go by, then their new video for ‘Traps’ will be a good ‘un too.

Well, it is, you can watch it below:

If the new-folk movement has you grinding your teeth, then Joyce The Librarian is a good remedy, it’s honest, original, uplifting. The video for ‘Traps’, much like its predecessor ‘Follow Me’ (which has only had 3500 views on Youtube – that’s a travesty), is simple but very effective at tugging the heart strings.

It follows the story of an old man, taking his pills, dreaming of childhood days of flying kites. Reliving his dreams, we’re treated to some fantastic camera shots, yes, you guessed it, from the point of view of the kite itself.

I hope this is Joyce The Librarian’s year. And they’re doing themselves some favours by pushing out beautiful singles and videos.
