Boston were one of a horde of hard rock bands playing AOR back in the seventies and eighties, none of which really had any longevity. What I hadn’t realised was, despite rows, deaths and splits, they are still about and doing pretty much what they always have. The new album is ‘Life, Love & Hope’ and contains none of those three things. At best they sound like Queen, at worst Bryan Adams – neither of which fit comfortably in 2013 as, of course, do not Boston – Bummer Album of the Week.
