Cairn String Quartet, the all-female, classically trained (at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music And Drama no less) ensemble are back for a very special one-off hometown show on 21 February at Glasgow’s Platform. The show is a fundraiser for their upcoming trip to Austin, Texas to play SXSW, “the biggest annual music, film and interactive conference and festival”, where they’re confirmed to play with fellow Scots Young Fathers (who have just signed to Big Dada on the Ninja Tune label) and are hosting their very own showcase too.

Playing a whole host of their unique interpretations of much loved contemporary Scottish songs, Cairn String Quartet will be joined onstage by a selection of very special guest artists. Whilst they’re keeping mum about the full list of guests who will be joining them onstage, Cairn have confirmed a few. They’re able to announce today that so far Aidan Moffat, R.M. Hubbert, Emma Pollock, Miaoux Miaoux, The Twilight Sad, Francis Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), Call To Mind, Errors, David Macgregor (from Kid Canaveral), Solareye (Stanley Odd), Hector Bizerk and Gasp, and Lou Hickey will be joining them onstage.
