Sonisphere Preview: Prodigy, Maiden, Metallica, Chas n Dave and WWI Dog Fights

After a 2 year hiatus, Sonisphere returns to Knebworth with a severely solid line up. Headliners The Prodigy, Iron Maiden and Metallica all look set to bring the thunder, and are rounded out with a roster of all that is great and good in the world of Heavy Metal. As an extra feature, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickenson is set to stage a 12 minute WWI ‘dogfight’ above the festival. The Great War Display Team which includes Dickenson as a member will perform on the evening of July 5th at around 6pm. Dickinson commented “The air show over Sonisphere is something I’m really excited about and we’re determined to put on an unforgettable display for everyone. We’re planning an extravaganza of derring-do, especially when you consider the manoeuvres we’ll be performing are all based on true-life battles from a hundred years ago! We hope to stage a memorable display which is equally entertaining and poignant, celebrating not only the bravery and heroics of all the pilots involved but remembering the sacrifices made on both sides.”

Joining the headliners will on the bill are Devin Townsend, Gary Numan, Deftones, Frank Turner, Limp Bizkit, Anthrax, Dropkick Murphys, The Sisters Of Mercy, Chas & Dave (filling the wild card slot), Alice In Chains and Slayer plus Mastodon.
