Sometimes the best pieces of new music catch you off guard, sometimes the best pieces of new music don’t come accompanied by a cavalcade of hype, they come from personal emails such as the one we received recently from BLOOM. A self styled ‘a moody four piece from the West Coast of the Uk’ via a quick scan of their ‘online presence’ we’ve ascertained that they’re a nascent band of exceedingly young looking chaps from Wales. Their opening salvo is the thunderously slice of nagging post punk that is ‘Slow Evil’ that broods majestically; powered by double barrel vox that burn with regret before flowering into cathartic roar its all underpinned by spiraling kick ass guitars and pummeling rhythms that woosh like empty trains past your window…. Like the joyous mid point between Interpol and the US post hardcore sound of the early 90s. BLOOMING marvelous!
