Track Of The Day #539: The Underground Youth – Heart On A Chain

The Underground Youth are a Manchester four piece led by underground poet Craig Dyer. Releasing records under the Fuzz Club imprint since 2011 they are gearing up to reveal “Sadovaya” their fourth long player.

A delicious first taste comes in the form of psych-pop ripples of ‘Heart on a Chain’ that beats like a lost Jesus and Mary Chain gem, laced with 60s-ish harmonies Craig Dyer’s tortured croon that recounts lovelorn pain. Its precise jangle shimmers in the sunset distance tipping its hat not unsurprisingly to the early works of the Velvet Underground. Sumptuous.
