NEWS: Liverpool Music Week 2014

imageWith just over six weeks to go, anticipation for Liverpool Music Week‘s 10th anniversary celebrations is reaching astronomic heights. Attracting a record- breaking 48,000 people for its last edition, this year the UK’s largest indoor winter music festival returns with a dangerously cool line up of music and arts, staging over 50 events and showcasing more than 250 acts.

The event will centre around Camp and Furnace and Kazimier, two of the city’s most vibrant arts and music venues, with a reputation for supporting fresh talent and local creative networks.

Camp and Furnace will play host to the festival headliners Caribou, Mogwai and Wild Beasts and will become the main stage of the spectacular multi-venue Closing party, featuring a host of names, including CHVRCHES, The Black Lips, We Are Catchers and Nick Mulvey.

FINAL - KAZIMIER FREE SHOWSKazimier will stage the much-loved Free festival, which this year will bring to Liverpool the likes of American experimentalists Liars, woozy and blissful Peaking Lights, psychedelic noise rockers Hookworms, post-punk press favourites Eagulls, Transgressive Records’ lush indie of The Antlers and South African genre mixologists John Wizards. Kazimier Venue Manager Chris Tyler said :

“We are massively excited about hosting Liverpool Music Week at the Kazimier this year. The festival itself has been synonymous with bringing some of music’s most exciting acts to the city over the past decade and this year’s bill continues to showcase the event’s progressive approach to live music. The possibility of getting to see such a diverse programme of acts of this calibre for free is incredible – It’s going to be a pretty special week!”

The first two batches of free tickets were snapped up within minutes but this year the festival is also introducing a “Kazimier Golden Ticket”. With a strictly limited availability of 300, these £10 tickets offer guaranteed ‘no queuing, no fuss ‘ access to 3 Kazimier shows of your choice.

For the more adventurous, nationally recognised art curator Samizdat will be presenting Vessel, the rising star of the international electronic music scene, working together with one of the UK’s most exciting new instrumentalists Immix Ensemble. The resultant musical exploration will be enhanced by the artist Sam Wiehl, whose visuals will provide the back-drop to the performance adding an additional perspective to this genre-breaking collaboration.

imageConfirmed venues for this year’s Closing Party are Camp and Furnace, The Blade Factory, Constellations, 24 Kitchen Street, District, The Nordic Church with more venues and spaces in the area to announced.

All festival events will run between 23rd October and 4th November.
