Norwich collective Wooden Arms release their wonderful debut album ‘Tide’ next week(13th of October) on 12” vinyl, CD & digital via Butterfly Collectors Records, we are chuffed to death to be hosting the first airing of the album. The album was recorded and produced by Wild Beasts and I Like Trains engineer David Pye. It showcases their wonderfully intricate, swelling orchestral sound, laced with affecting melodies and pierced by tumbling percussive interludes and warm brass. Stream it below.
According to the press release: ‘Tide’ the album, is a collection of songs that deal with inevitability and the inescapable fact that tick follows tock, a concept accompanied by certain clarity, misery, and truth.
‘Wooden Arms’ writing partnership comprises founder & tryannical composer Alex Carson (vocals, piano), and self-effacing songwriter Jeff Smith (trumpet, vocals, guitar).’
‘False Start’ taken from their debut, self-titled EP in the summer of 2013, was anything but; immediately gaining support at BBC6 Music, in particular Lauren Larverne and followed by bewitching sets at Liverpool Sound City, Norwich Sound & Vision, Norfolk & Norwich Festival as well as supporting Peter Broderick and Greg Haines and extensively performing around the UK.
