A previous tip of ours, Manchester’s LoneLady has made a welcome reappearance with ‘Groove It Out’ clocking in at six minutes, it bleeds the lines between funk, disco and post punk: marvellously encapsulating the dance floor shudder of the Detroit sound being implanted with the knowing post punk rhythms of Gang of Four . Sewn with the attitude of our heroine LoneLady, whose dulcet icy cold vocals survey the dystopia amongst the thud of drum machine, litters of playful futurist samples and bassy grooves. What makes this track unique are the spaces between each enticing instrumental loop, allowing LoneLady the platform to excel. Aware of the past yet shifting in to the future, on the basis of ‘Groove It Out’ we can’t wait for LoneLady’s second album slated for release in early 2015.

“Watch the video below, directed by Isaac Eastgate and Julie Campbell, produced by Isaac Eastgate (Conan Mockasin, Egyptian Hip Hop). Filmed in October 2014. Featuring LoneLady in her HQ, a semi-derelict building tucked behind a network of shuttered shops and rubble-strewn outskirts at the Manchester-Salford border, overlooked by the looming watchtower of Strangeways Prison.”
