Not content to be just tearing round mainland Britain as part of the current NME Awards Tour, blowing audiences away with their feral blast of garage-punk, Tunbridge Wells’ very own Slaves have now just unleashed a video to accompany their new single ‘Feed The Mantaray’.
Directed by Youth Hymns & Slaves themselves, the video depicts the band’s Laurie Vincent and Isaac Holman on a comic strip ocean bed being hotly pursued in their Mini Minor by a manta ray, the playful surrealism of these moving images serving as a somewhat bizarre counterpoint to the song’s untrammelled ferocity as guitar, drums and voice collide in a maelstrom of quite savage simplicity.
‘Feed The Mantaray’ is due for release on 23rd March with two songs on the B-side – the exclusive non-album track, ‘OK’ and ‘I Shine My Shoes With A Dirty Vest’ which was recorded by the band in Laurie Vincent’s bedroom.
