Location: Manchester and Leeds

Emerging from the ashes of the sadly departed Beacons Festival comes Beacons Metro. A brand new metropolitan festival located in the North of England, Beacons Metro will host a series of music, art and food events in Manchester and Leeds this coming autumn.

The Albert Hall – a magnificent Grade II listed Wesleyan Chapel – is the chosen venue for Manchester, whilst across the Pennines in Leeds the former textile mill, and soon to be opened, Headrow House will play host to the West Yorkshire city’s programme of events.

And judging by the first wave of live music announcements, Beacons Metro looks set to follow firmly in the footsteps of its illustrious predecessor by bringing to us a raft of shows that fully embrace the musical concepts of innovation, creativity and diversity.

Beacons Metro announces its arrival by holding a special warm-up party at the Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds in August, which will feature an appearance by the Philadelphian sludge-punk noise machine that is Pissed Jeans. Fellow Americans Mac Demarco – the new rising star of slacker rock – Son Lux and Ex Hex are scheduled to appear later in the year as are more homegrown talent like Hookworms – who will appear in a performance run in association with Recon Festival and in collaboration with the Ghostpoet and Wild Beasts’ producer, Richard FormbyFactory Floor, Lonelady, TRAAMS and East India Youth.
