Self styled New York slop pop duo Diet Cig play kick ass power punk pop laced with Luciano’s fiercely pointed vocals that drip with irony: her riveting witty, self critical lyrics see saw on the axis between emotional phases, rejection and ‘fuck you’ self empowerment. Each of her words is wrapped in a ‘tell it like it is’ bitter sweetness that only a young girl with lashings of attitude can deliver. If anything this is more like smart brat pop with an addictive quality, like the meeting point between the melodic catchiness of Alvvays and the playful punk of L7.
Diet Cig will release the double A-side vinyl 7″ on September 18th on Father/Daughter (US) and Art Is Hard (UK). Both songs currently available digitally where all music is downloaded and streamed.
