NEWS: Handmade 2016 line up and festival partner update

HandmadeDates: 29th April – 1st May 2016
Location: Leicester

Handmade Festival is returning to Leicester’s O2 Academy for its fourth edition over May bank holiday weekend for three days of the finest music, comedy, art, film, performance and photography, hand-picked and carefully curated.

Joining the recently announced We Are Scientists and 65daysofstatic are anthemic rock quintet Lonely The Brave, Welsh indie pop luminaries Los Campesinos! and one of the most talked-about young bands of 2015, Pretty Vicious.

This year the festival is partnering up with old friends Big Scary Monsters and Alcopop Records as well as new friends. Alongside the new headline announcements three new partners have also been announced to help curate the festival: Upset Magazine, Wichita Records and BBC Introducing East Midlands.

Speaking about the festival, co-organiser John Helps said: “That’s the beauty of Handmade – it is a DIY festival – created and curated with a real love and attention to detail. It has to beg, borrow and steal in order to exist, but consequently it’s been easy for the whole city’s creative community to get behind and drive it forward together. Without the care and support of so many volunteers and people with
incredible imagination and ambition, it wouldn’t ever have existed – and it only continues to do so because of them.”

With yet more acts to be announced in the coming months, Handmade £30 weekend tickets already sound like a bargain of the year.
