Track Of The Day #795: Lust For Youth – Sudden Ambitions

Yet more Scandinavian loveliness has just come our way courtesy of the Copenhagen-based trio Lust For Youth. Formerly the solo project of Hannes Norrvide, Lust For Youth has since been joined by long-time live collaborator Loke Rahbek and, more recently, Malthe Fischer. Together they have now brought us ‘Sudden Ambitions’, the second single to be taken from their forthcoming album Compassion.

‘Sudden Ambitions’ leans very heavily on the shoulder of some classic mid-80’s synth pop. New Order, Depeche Mode and Associates must surely be amongst Lust For Youth’s primary musical touchstones. But this track manages to set itself apart from being a mere imitator by cleverly splicing together the feelings of exultation, desolation and highly contagious infection and bringing them into the very heart of one single popular song.

Compassion will be released on 18th March 2016 through Sacred Bones Records and can be pre-ordered here
