Track of the Day #829: Peaness – Oh George

Let’s face it, it’s been a hideous few weeks for chancellor George Osbourne (Gideon to his chums) putting aside the fact that he looks like Mr. Bean if he’d been pickled in bile and acid for several years, his latest vindictive budget unraveled and doesn’t add up and caused butcher in chief Iain Duncan Smith to resign citing its ‘unfairness’.  Not only that but some are daring to question his ‘leadership credentials’ how very dare they!

So think of femme three-piece Peaness‘s new single ‘Oh George’ as the soundtrack to this omnishambles of a few weeks.  It’s a smart garage-pop song that fizzes and lilts with its sighing harmonies that sketch out this anti-love song to Mr. Osborne and his peculiarly shaped nose.  “Oh George you broke my heart/You lie to me and my family/Oh George I should have known/You only think of your own,’ they sing pertinently riding the contours of this particularly marvelous tune with a withering heart.  It’s a clear sonic progression for Peaness, it sounds more like a buffed up Camera Obscura with an American garage lick of attitude.  There’s plentiful potential with Peaness!
