NEWS: Okkervil River unveil video for ‘Okkervil River R.I.P’

American rockers Okkervil River are releasing their brand new LP Away on 9th September via ATO Records. It’s the band’s first in three years and is set to mark a new chapter for creativity for frontman Will Sheff. In the run up to the release, they’ve shared another cut and video from the record, the somewhat meta ‘Okkervil River R.I.P.’

Written and directed by Sheff, the clip stars Tim Blake Nelson, best known for his roles in O Brother Where Art Thou and Lincoln. He’s a priest speaking at Sheff’s funeral, and we see him getting ready for the event, as well as officiating. In a surreal twist, Sheff lies in his coffin but is still seen singing along. Watch below.

Okkervil River are also heading out on a short tour of the UK in November. Details below.

10th November – Islington Assembly Hall, London
11th November – Thekla, Bristol
12th November – Gorilla, Manchester
13th November – Stereo, Glasgow
