NEWS: Alcest share new track ‘Oiseaux de Proie’

Recently, French blackgaze duo Alcest announced that they’d be releasing their new album Kodama on 30th September via Prophecy Productions.  Originally inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic anima Princess Mononoke, the album attempts to pick up on the fate of its protagonists and deals with the sensations of not belonging and living in-between worlds.  It also features artwork from French graphic designer duo Fortifem.

The pair have now shared the first taste of Kodama, ‘Oiseaux de Proie,’ or “birds of prey.”  The track has a heavier feel to some of the duo’s more recent work, returning to the sounds and tone of some of their earlier blackgaze roots.  Listen below.

The band are also heading out on an extensive co-headline tour with Mono to help promote Kodama in November.  Details below.
