NEWS: Vibrissae share ‘Need’ from upcoming debut album

Shoegaze-electronic trio Vibrissae recently signed to the Italian label Vipchoyo Sound Factory and are releasing their debut album Somewhere Away on 19th August.  The band are based in Portland but come from across the globe: vocalist Imber Lingard is from Australia, Emma Bell was born in Malaysia and only Aaron Bell is a USA native.  Their debut album is set to be as diverse as their own origins, combining and alternating between synth pop, darkwave, electronic rock and shoegaze.  To capture their DIY ethics, the band recorded Somewhere Away in their own home studio.

The record’s first single ‘Need’ shows off just one of the many musical facets of the group.  It’s a fast-paced post-punk number that follows a little bit of a loud-quiet-loud structure.  The combination of Lingard’s vocals and the squall of guitars and drums that accompany her are deeply reminiscent of 90’s groups like The Breeders, Elastica and even Lush.  Listen below.
