American singer-songwriter and founding member of Throwing Muses Kristin Hersh has announced that she’ll be releasing another unique new solo effort this Autumn. Wyatt at the Coyote Palace, coming out on 28th October via Omnibus Press, will be the third instalment of her book-CD format, which began with her effort Crooked and Throwing Muses’ Pugatory/Paradise.
Recorded in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, the record has been entirely created by Hersh – who plays all the instruments on the 24-track LP – alongside engineer Steve Rizzo. The songs were written across a turbulent period of Hersh’s life, but the accompanying prose has been inspired by her autistic son Wyatt and his fascination with an abandoned block of flats inhabited by coyotes.
Hersh explained more about the concept behind Wyatt: “I had so loved his love of the place. Throwing Muses’ drummer, Dave – my best friend since third grade – decided that Wyatt needed to encapsulate his sense memories of the coyote palace, make the experience finite, like bottling a memory. Dave thinks we’ll see it again, and Wyatt’s love of the place will come back, when the images have been filtered through Wyatt’s intense and fascinating psychology.”
Wyatt at the Coyote Palace is available to pre-order now.
In November, Hersh will be returning to the UK and Ireland for a very extensive ‘An Evening with Kristin Hersh’ tour. Details can be found on her official website.
