Track Of The Day #929: LIINES – Disappear

Post-punk trio LIINES return with their upcoming single ‘Disappear’/’Be Here’.  The double-A side is released on 28th October through Reckless Yes Records, this Manchester band are currently creating lots of waves and are getting some good radio play throughout the country.

Disappear’ starts with some great bombastic, machine gun drumming courtesy of Leila O’Sullivan.  Then a really nice throbbing bass (Steph Angel) comes in and it is really high in the mix.  And it’s this bass that drives both the tracks on offer here.  The guitars quickly come in and give the track another element and integral driving force; the lead vocals are big and heartfelt.

The guitars have a great staccato element to them that creates yet another level of sound.  Finally, add in some distortion and the refrain of “don’t fail me now,” and what you get is a perfect slice of post-punk pop that is 2.55 long and just wonderful.
