Acclaimed electronic trio The xx have announced that their follow up to Coexist will be coming out on 13th January 2017 via Young Turks. I See You was made over the course of two years in New York, Texas, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London and promises to provide a more expansive, outward-looking approach to their usually introspective sound. The band said: “We know these are uncertain times and we hope the joy & love we found making the record will get out into the world, in however small a way.”
The announcement has been accompanied by a brand new single called ‘On Hold.’ It’s probably one of the most upbeat songs the trio have ever released. It samples Hall & Oates’ hit ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’ and could be their poppiest moment to date. Listen below.
