VIDEO REPORT: Meilyr Jones wins the Welsh Music Prize 2016

Last week Meilyr Jones won the Welsh Music Prize for his debut album ‘2013’, the former Radio Luxembourg and Racehorses singer was one of our tips at the start for 2016 and we have keenly followed his emergence as a solo artist throughout the last eighteen months. His debut is a brilliant long player of songs that’s imaginative, touching and artful. Meilyr is heading out to SXSW and will be touring Europe in the New Year. Scooping the prize from a strong shortlist of Welsh albums, that also included the likes of Cate Le Bon, Alun Gaffey, The Anchoress, Right Hand Left Hand and more that depicts the breadth and strength of what has been a great few years for Welsh music.

We were there on the evening to document the event. Many thanks to Anastasia Connor for organising our coverage and Helen Griffiths for her work producing this short video document of Meilyr’s prize winning evening! Bravo!
