NEWS: sir Was announces debut album ‘Digging a Tunnel’

Gothenburg-based multi-instrumentalist and singer Joel Wästberg – better known as sir Was – has announced that hid debut album Digging a Tunnel will be out on 10th March 2017 via City Slang.  The album is set to be inspired by everyone from My Bloody Valentine and D’Angelo to Liturgy and even Sly and the Family Stone, combining different genres into a semi-experimental exploration of alt-pop.  Wästberg has played almost every instrument on the album, helping him to keep creative control over his unrestrained genre-bending vision.

To coincide with the announcement, Wästberg has shared a video for his laid-back new single ‘In the Midst,’ which is also the album’s opening track.  In it, he ventures down to the woods and a seaside cliff face with others in the dead of night to participate in a ritualistic party.  Speaking of the video, sir Was said: “I like to get cosy.  When being home, just relaxing, I tend to wear really comfortable clothes.  It just does you good.  It makes you relax and forget about yourself. But this time I made an exception…  I wore my clothes in front of the camera.  Please enjoy.”  Watch below.
