NEWS: James Leonard Hewitson shares new track ‘Shy of Hard Work’

Hartlepool native and anti-folk artist James Leonard Hewitson had a successful 2016 following the success of his debut single ‘Care Less Love Less’ and its follow up ‘The Screen.’ Taking inspiration from everyone from Adam Green to The Walkmen and Parquet Courts, Hewitson has become adept at creating smart slacker tunes that intelligently observe the conventions of contemporary life.

Shy of Hard Work’ is Hewitson’s bounciest number to date but still maintains his signature lo-fi sound, fuzzy and charmingly ragged around the edges. It rockets through its two minute length and on the surface is a simple indie-pop number, but there’s more going on here than meets the eye and it’s sure to sink its hooks into the listener in no time. Listen below.

James Leonard Hewitson and his full band will be supporting Marsicans and Lost State of Dance at Ku Bar in Stockton on 10th March.
