EXCLUSIVE: Jeb Loy Nichols ‘Till The Teardrops Stop’ Track Premiere

Jeb Loy Nichols is releasing his new album ‘Country Hustle’ on March 17th. It’s a potent, flavoursome mix cooked up from Southern soul, country, blues, funk and folk, with a dash of hip hop, dub and 80/90s club sounds. It’s schooled in the past but is resolutely modern in production, featuring collaborations from Andrew Hale (Sade), Distance and Nostalgia 77. We have the premiere of the track ‘Till The Teardrops Stop’, with a smooth blend of soulfulnes, the song is about the late Larry Jon Wilson, a celebrated American country artist in his own right:

Jeb originally hails from Missouri and has lived in Texas, New York and London. He has a fascinating, Zelig-like story, all of which feeds into his authentic, experience-infused music. He caught an original Sex Pistols show in Texas, danced to Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage and witnessed Bambaataa rock Bronx blocks.

Nicholas says of the track:

“The first version of this song was called Sad Party. I wrote it a few years ago and liked the way those two words pushed at each other. Then, a year ago, I sat down, sang the verse to Sad Party and a whole new chorus jumped out. Till The Teardrops Stop was born. I think this song started writing itself 35 years ago, the first time I ever heard Donnie Fritts or Larry Jon Wilson, any of the great southern country soul songwriters. People who wrote about sadness and redemption in the same three minute song. People who knew that tears and laughter were not only related, but indistinguishable from each other. This song is for them – my chance to say thanks.”
