Track Of The Day #1007: Andrew Combs – Rose Colored Blues

Track Of The Day #1007: Andrew Combs – Rose Colored Blues

To coincide with the release of Andrew Combs’ third full-length album Canyons Of My Mind, we are delighted to present the record’s latest single ‘Rose Colored Blues’ as today’s Track Of The Day. Talking about the song, Combs says “It’s a romanticized version of being on the road. I wanted it to be lush, and to feel like you’re driving. The concept is something that’s always been very interesting to me: the whole idea of someone relishing their blues.”

And the Dallas native who now lives close to Nashville airport is clearly a man who knows something about travel as ‘Rose Colored Blues’ quickly gathers a momentum all of its own as it sets out across the wide open spaces of his homeland in search of true love and high adventure. With its beautifully understated orchestration, the delicacy of Jim Hoke’s pedal-steel guitar, and Combs’ gorgeously soulful voice, the song conjures up fond memories of From Elvis In Memphis, a record that surely marked the absolute zenith of The King’s mid-career.

Canyons Of My Mind is released on 7th April through Loose & New West Records.
