PLAYLIST: Tora – ’10 of the Best’

Byron Bay four-piece Tora recently released their debut album Take A Rest. Replete with lush, layered electronic pop sounds and silky vocals, they head to Europe and the UK this Autumn, with a show at London’s Lexington on the 9th of October.

Tora’s Thorne Davis (drums) has put together a playlist of ten of their favourite songs here:

1. Jafu – No More /

“An extremely crisp downtempo dubstep-ish track discovered roaming the vast archive of Spotify.”

2. David August – Epikur /

“An oldie but a goldie, and also the first tune of David’s that I discovered. It’s the spark that ignited what I can only imagine will be a lifelong appreciation for his creative output.”

3. Mac DeMarco – On The Level /

“Puts me on the level every time, what a ledge.”

4. Uffe – I Can Show You High /

“From a man who boasts an extremely eclectic repertoire, this ranks as one of my favourites.”

5. Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura Band – La Rumba Experimental – (Motor City Drum Ensemble Remix) /

“Coasts like a coaster at Grandma’s tea-party on a Sunday.”

6. Buttering Trio – I Cried For You /

“New discovery, interested to hear what gets churned out in the future.”

7. Mookhi – Foul Play /

“Toured Australia with this lovely lady, currently one of my favourite Australian acts.”

8. Luvless _ Down With You Baby /

“To start your morning or smooth out your night.”

9. Melanie De Biasio – I’m Gonna Leave You /

“Vocals and bass though… Piano is about as Jazz as I can handle but the harmony of all elements combined creates a true masterpiece in my view.”

10. Kendrick Lamar – YAH. /

“Hard to decide on one song when the entire album is basically a single.”
