PREVIEW: Jane Weaver and She Drew The Gun at the O2 Ritz in Manchester

It has been a fantastic year for both Jane Weaver and She Drew The Gun and it is one that is all set to culminate for them in Manchester next Thursday when the Merseyside sonic cosmonauts will both appear at the city’s O2 Ritz.

Some two years after the release of her highly praised Silver Globe LP, Jane Weaver has once more repeated the trick with Modern Kosmology, another flawless slice of psychedelic pop that is following its predecessor’s noble footsteps into many “Top Album of the Year” lists. It is a record that is already flying high in the Mojo, Uncut, HMV and Rough Trade end-of-year final countdowns.

Reflecting this widespread critical acclaim, the date at the O2 Ritz in Manchester on the 30th of November will be Jane Weaver’s biggest headline show yet.

Principal support on the night comes courtesy of She Drew The Gun. Building upon the success of winning last year’s Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition, the Wirrall-based psych-pop outfit have consolidated their position as torch bearers for modern protest music and legitimate voices for radical change. Their appearance at this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival was one of the unquestionable highlights of that event.

Additional support in Manchester is provided by Pictish Trail, the magical, mercurial music project of Lost Map Records founder and Isle of Eigg resident Johnny Lynch. Here he takes time out from his very own headlining Winter Rewind Acid Reflux Tour to contribute to what promises to be an incredible evening of exploratory music.
