NEWS: Nicole Atkins releases ‘November Rain’ duet with Mark Lanegan

A fortnight ahead of her return to the UK supporting Mercury Rev on their Deserter’s Songs 20th Anniversary tour, the really rather brilliant Nashville-via-Neptune City singer Nicole Atkins releases a stunning cover of the classic Guns NRoses ballad ‘November Rain’ that she has just recorded with her favourite singer man Mark Lanegan.

‘November Rain’ sees Atkins and the Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, Soulsavers and The Gutter Twins’ alumnus join their considerable vocal forces in a song that bears strong comparison with some of the greatest country duets of all time. You could think of  Merle Haggard and Janie Fricke on ’A Place To Fall Apart’ or even John Prine and Iris DeMent’s ‘In Spite of Ourselves’ and you would start to get some idea of how these two deeply contrasting voices complement each other so perfectly.

‘November Rain’ is available on all digital platforms on 23rd November 2018.

UK tour dates in December w/Mercury Rev:

Saturday 8th – The Gate, Cardiff
Sunday 9th – The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth
Monday 10th – The Glee Club, Birmingham
Tuesday 11th – Norwich Arts Centre
Thursday 13th and Friday 14th  – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
Sunday 16th – The Royal Exchange, Manchester
Tuesday 18th – Oslo, London

  1. 90% of the posts I read on here I am like “not interested”, but this one I had to find the song and press play.

Mark Lanegan – one of the most overated people in rock, up there with radiohead and Nick Cave. Best thing about this by a mile. 0.5/10 for his contribution.

The song is fucking shit, always has been, always will be. Let’s face facts, Guns n Roses release about 4 superb pop-rock singles off their debut album, but other than that are relentlessly appalling.

    Don’t like her voice.

If the vocalists were better and the song was infinitely better then I still wouldn’t see the point. Boring music for old people. And that comes from a boring old person.
