A fortnight ahead of her return to the UK supporting Mercury Rev on their Deserter’s Songs 20th Anniversary tour, the really rather brilliant Nashville-via-Neptune City singer Nicole Atkins releases a stunning cover of the classic Guns N‘ Roses ballad ‘November Rain’ that she has just recorded with her favourite singer man Mark Lanegan.
‘November Rain’ sees Atkins and the Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, Soulsavers and The Gutter Twins’ alumnus join their considerable vocal forces in a song that bears strong comparison with some of the greatest country duets of all time. You could think of Merle Haggard and Janie Fricke on ’A Place To Fall Apart’ or even John Prine and Iris DeMent’s ‘In Spite of Ourselves’ and you would start to get some idea of how these two deeply contrasting voices complement each other so perfectly.
‘November Rain’ is available on all digital platforms on 23rd November 2018.
