NEWS: Stella Donnelly shares the video for ‘Tricks’ directed by Julia Jacklin

Stella Donnelly has shared her new video for ‘Tricks’, the newest single from her wonderful forthcoming debut album Beware of the Dogs, out March 8th on Secretly Canadian.

Tricks follows previously released songs Old Man and Lunch and is a deceptively catchy jab at racist Australian pride and the absurdity of the music industry. The accompanying video, co-directed by Nick McKk and fellow Australian musician Julia Jacklin was shot in Melbourne.

“I wanted to have a dancer in the style of an Australia tap dog following Stella around Melbourne and trying to get her attention as she goes about her day. Is he real? Is he in her imagination? Not sure“  says Julia Jacklin.

This song is a playful zoom-in on the ‘Australian Idenitity’ and a loose dig at the morons that used to yell sh*t at me when I played cover gigs on Sunday afternoons. It probably served me right for singing ‘Wonderwall’ every weekend” says Stella.

Stella will tour Europe in Spring; beginning on April 11 in Berlin and concluding on the 7th May at London’s Scala, Stella’s biggest show to date.
