NEWS: Hand In Hive announce five nights of CALM Lock In Sessions

London label, Hand In Hive, curate a line-up that would have seen Alt Escape showcase raising money and awareness for mental health charity CALM – The Campaign Against Living Miserably. The event consists of five evenings of Instagram Live Streams as part of the charity’s Lock-In Sessions campaign.

Following on from the likes of Arlo Parks and Declan McKenna, this run of sessions – from Monday 11th to Friday 15th May – will see five brilliant indie artists performing to raise money and awareness for the incredible work that CALM does.

The line-up is as follows:

  • 11/05/20 – Wyldest (6pm BST)

Kicking-off the series of Lock In Sessions, the multi-talented Zoe Mead will bring her Wyldest project to life using an array of instruments and studio equipment to recreate tracks from her stunning Redream Chaos album, released through Hand In Hive back in March to support from the likes of NPR, The i Newspaper and KEXP.

  • 12/05/20 – A.O. Gerber (6:30pm BST)
Tuesday will see new Hand In Hive signing A.O. Gerber perform songs from her upcoming debut album – Another Place To Need – which is set for release on 22nd May. The L.A. artist and producer is picking-up praise from the likes of NYLON and GoldFlakePaint, thanks to her blend of vulnerable yet empowering indie.
  • 13/05/20 – Blackaby (6pm BST)

Following early support from new music champions such as DIY and Indie Shuffle, Blackaby will perform tracks from a soon-to-be-announced new project. The London artist delivers infectious, lo-fi indie, which will entice fans of Happyness and Hovvdy.

  • 14/05/20 – TV Priest (6pm BST)

TV Priest are another new signing to Hand In Hive. The post-punk quartet from the outskirts of London recently released their debut single, picking-up immediate support from BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, NME and So Young. Expect an ingenious recreation of their visceral output on Thursday evening.

  • 15/05/20 – Swimming Tapes [Louis / Robbie solo] (6pm BST)

Wrapping-up the run of sessions will be Louis and Robbie from indie-pop outfit Swimming Tapes. The Northern Irish pair will be sharing the live stream, delivering dreamy, acoustic versions of tracks from their Clash and The Line Of Best Fit acclaimed debut album Morningside, released a year ago this month.

The Lock In Sessions will be going some way to making up for the cancellation of The Great Escape Festival, which would have played host to Hand In Hive + CALM’s fifth annual Alt Escape showcase at The Mucky Duck. Artists’ fees from the showcase will be going to CALM and the independent Brighton venue.
