NEWS: Gabriel Moreno to release his debut solo album

When Gabriel Moreno and the Quivering Poets won the final slot on the Introducing Stage at last year’s Great British Folk Festival (an award that automatically secured them a place on one of the bigger stages at the next festival), we could not have predicted just how dramatically the world would change in the interim as a consequence of the Coronavirus outbreak.

As such, this year’s Great British Folk Festival (scheduled for December at Butlin’s Skegness) remains in doubt, but Gabriel Moreno’s talent is not shrouded in such uncertainty as he prepares for the release of his first solo record, Whiskey with Angels.

The Press Release tells us that “the album centres around Moreno’s poetical lyrics and baritone voice, which narrates tales of political discontent, poetical longings and romantic pursuits in the underground of London. It’s conceived to marry the profane and the idealistic to create a strong poetical perspective emerging from the Bohemian singer-songwriter scene where Gabriel is a long-time performer and curator of acclaimed nights such as The Lantern Society, Notes from Underground and The Poetry Brothel. The album also features collaborations with The Quivering Poets and other fabulous London, Barcelona and Gibraltar-based musicians such Pablo Yupton on electric guitar and bass, Pablo Campos on drums and percussion, Fiona Bevan on violin and percussion, Ty and Ayesha Watling on vocals and pedal steel amongst others.”

Whiskey with Angels is scheduled for an October release but here we get a taste of what is to come courtesy of the album’s lead single, An angel sleeps in your mirror
