Introducing: Fab The Duo

Introducing: Fab The Duo

There’s something special to be said about an artist who can exist so confidently in their truth that it bursts into every aspect of their art to fill the listener with glee and inspiration. In the case of Fab The Duo, we have two such artists. A playful pairing of talented artists in their own right who mix together to create the perfect potion of joy. I had the chance to chat with them and discuss their latest work.

Hi, how are you today?

Hi! We’re doing the best we can given the, um… circumstances of the world.

Tell me about your new song, ‘Party For Two’ and the concept behind the amazing music video.

We wanted to put out a fun quarantine song that would let people dance and have fun in their own homes. Obviously, no one can go out to huge parties right now, but we hope that people can still find some joy even in these times. We wanted the music video to be as fun and vibrant as possible. It features us living our best lives with all the party tricks (silly string, balloons, streamers) and it introduces our fierce backup dancers.

What was your experience like putting the music video together?

Being on set is always so fun and it’s especially great when we have a team we can trust behind us. There’s so much behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a music video and it was amazing to see it all come together. There was the added stress of shooting during COVID and keeping everyone safe. We had to have temperature checks, face masks when not on camera, and a gallon of hand sanitizer.

What are your plans beyond this release?

We like to keep people in suspense, but let’s just say fans can expect more new music soon. In the long term, we’re planning on recording and releasing an album.

What was the first song you ever wrote?

The first song we ever fully wrote together is an unreleased song called ‘Found’. It’s a favorite at our concerts.

What was it like?

It’s a modern, dark, indie-pop song like we’ve never done before. Think Bishop Briggs.

What’s your local music scene like?

We live in New York, so there’s a super vibrant music scene. It’s been devastating to see so many music venues in the city close because of the pandemic but we know our city will bounce back stronger than ever. Since quarantine, we have become part of a global online community of queer artists.

How would you describe your music in five words?

Fierce. Fun. Fabulous. Inspiring. Extra!

Which artists do you admire?

Any artist that isn’t afraid to be themselves and think outside of the box. Some of our favorites include P!NK, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Panic! at The Disco, and Kim Petras.

What would be your dream collaboration?

Our unachievable dream collab? Lady Gaga. Our slightly-more-achievable dream collab is Kim Petras.

What’s the best band/artist you have played with so far?

That’s such a hard question because we’ve played with so many amazing artists. But last year we put on a pop-punk show and performed with Broadway star Lauren Patten, and she is just incredible.

Who/What are you listening to right now?

Sam Smith, Max, X-Ambassadors, Poppy, Leon Bridges, Cyn, and 5 Seconds Of Summer are a few artists on our playlist right now!
