Video of the Week #174: The Antlers – Wheels Roll Home

The Antlers are back with their first new music in six years. ‘Wheels Roll Home’ marks the first creative output of the Brooklyn-based duo of Peter Silberman and Michael Lerner since the release of their fifth album Familiars back in 2014.

Speaking about the song Silberman, The Antlers’ lead singer and songwriter, says, “‘Wheels Roll Home’ is a simple song about the hopeful promise of reunion after a long time gone. It’s that feeling of finding home in someone, eager and impatient to build a life together. It’s the experience of waiting out tumultuous times, longing for stability someday.”

Certain parallels in the song’s sentiments can undoubtedly be drawn with the strange and turbulent times in which we all now find ourselves and the devastating, socially alienating impact this Coronavirus pandemic is having upon us.

‘Wheels Roll Home’ is accompanied by a video directed by the Canadian filmmaker Derrick Belcham and performer, choreographer, and director Emily Terndrup. The video was created in collaboration with the world-renowned contemporary dancers and former principal members of Batsheva Dance Company, Bobbi-Jene Smith and Or Schraiber.

And most delightful it is too. You can watch it here:
