UK Record Store Day announced for June 2021

Record Store Day today revealed that the 2021 edition of the annual vinyl bonanaza will take place on Saturday 12 June.

Traditionally happening on the third Saturday in April, 2021 will instead see the celebration taking on a later spot in the music calendar – presumably to dodge the COVID-19 pandemic and its inevitable hangover.

This year saw the approach of staggering RSD over a series of dates in an effort to accommodate customers and help shops claw back lost revenue, with special RSD releases like The Big Moon recording straight to vinyl, Katy J Pearson and new Welsh-Liverpool duo King Hannah (pictured), and more.

But of course miles-long queues of vinyl lovers and collectors gathering from the early hours were absent, ditto the instore performances which make the day so distinctive and memorable.

Record Store Day, supported by BBC Sounds, is the one day of the year hundreds of record shops in the UK come together to celebrate their unique and independent culture and the art of vinyl.
