NEWS: English Teacher announce debut EP ‘Polyawkward’

English Teacher announce details of debut EP Polyawkward, and share sumptuous new cut ‘A55’, out today (January 17th) via Nice Swan Records (Sports Team, Pip Blom, FUR).

The follow-up to mammoth lead track ‘Good Grief’, ‘A55’ captures the group’s trademark enigmatic wordplay and vivid musicianship in full flow.

Detailing their second EP reveal, bandleader Lily Fontaine explained: “”Writing the lyrics for ‘A55’ was a cathartic exercise after waking up with “The Fear” the morning after the night before – reflecting on the rise and fall of the ego as it became affected by what I put in my body, I hoped that putting it down in verse would make the embarrassment all worth it.”

With a formidable twelve months ahead, English Teacher are certainly primed to capitalise on their impressive early momentum, following widespread critical acclaim, a slew of impeccable live slots (supporting Sports Team, Yard Act, FEET, SPRINTS and TV Priest) and countless spins on the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens) and KEXP airwaves.

Produced by Theo Verney (TRAAMS, FEET, Lazarus Kane), English Teacher’s ‘A55’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and will be available on all digital platforms. Pre-order debut EP ‘Polyawkward’ here.

English Teacher is Lily Fontaine (vocals, rhythm guitar, synth), Douglas Frost (drums, vocals), Nicholas Eden (bass), Lewis Whiting (lead guitar)
