EXCLUSIVE: Day & Dream debut lucid joy of new track ‘It’s All Over Now’

Today, we are debuting ‘It’s All Over Now,‘ the new track from Asheville, NC-based band Day & Dream. With dreamy percussion and lucid guitars, Day & Dream weave a delightful tapestry of sounds reminiscent of TOPS and Tennis. Woven with Abby’s feather light vocals, its an evocative pairing of wistfulness and playfulness, that wants to forgets its cares on the dancefloor. The track is lifted from their new album The Art of Remembering.

The track’s title is inspired by a piece of art by Shag with the same name. Per the band, the track is “about living in these uncertain times and choosing to laugh & dance rather than cry about the end of the world.” Abby works part time at an outdoor wedding venue, which was odd/paradoxical at times during pandemic; especially on nights, she would bartend and see/hear lots of crazy things and people celebrating.

Self-described “star gazers and forest dwellers,” Day & Dream create music that sounds like “your favorite warm fuzzy blanket.” Longtime artists Peter Frizzante and Abby Amaya initially met in New York City, but didn’t start a band together until they moved to Asheville, NC. Abby’s roots are in California ’60s coastal pop, while Peter’s is post-punk grit. Working together, the now husband-and-wife team showcase their admiration for sun-soaked sonic landscapes, lo-fi lounge, neo-psychedelia, fuzzy guitars, jazz tones, and melodic pop structures.
