Electropunk trio YARD have released their latest single, ‘Trevor’. It’s a pulsating fusion of techno beats and electronic rock, from a band who are known for their immersive and high-octane performances. Their eerie mascot, “Bucketman” has become synonymous with their striking, genre-defying sound.
A dystopian electronic journey, ‘Trevor’ is cinematic in scope, seamlessly blending euphoric techno rhythms with cascading synth walls and screeching vocals. The track balances sonic tension with explosive energy, capturing YARD’s signature mix of post-punk rock and electronica. It grips listeners tight before erupting into an infectious and aggressive crescendo. Lyrically, ‘Trevor’ explores the concept of anthropomorphism—the human tendency to attribute emotions and meaning to inanimate objects.
YARD vocalist Emmet White shares;
“I’ve a habit of naming inanimate objects that have played a significant role in my life. In this case ‘Trevor’ was the name of a bike that I had for years, which was passed down to me by my brother. Sadly, one night, it was stolen outside of work. The loss of Trevor hit me far harder than I had expected as it felt like I had lost a friend or a companion.”
As the first single from their highly anticipated upcoming EP set for release in May, ‘Trevor’ marks a thrilling new chapter for YARD. Taking inspiration from sonic heavyweights like SUUNS, Death Grips, and Nine Inch Nails, the track showcases the band’s relentless ambition and innovation, pushing their sound into even more expansive and electrifying territory.
