NEWS: Joe Harvey-Whyte & Bobby Lee to release their debut album on Curation Records

The renowned London-based pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte and Sheffield’s very own psych-country guitarist Bobby Lee have joined their considerable forces and will release their debut album, Last Ride in May on the Los Angeles label, Curation Records.

Last Ride is described as a record that“takes in Paris, Texas-esque dusty instrumentals, West Coast canyon-rock, Brit-folk pastoralism, kosmische choogle, and new-age mellowness.”

Joe Harvey-Whyte and Bobby Lee “had bonded over their broad-church approach to cosmic country, where Eno and Arthur Russell stand shoulder to shoulder with Gram Parsons and JJ Cale. Individually, they’re both rare torch bearers of ambient Americana on their side of the Atlantic.”

Last Ride comes out on Curation Records, home to Beachwood Sparks, Triptides, Silver Synthetic, and features a guest appearance from Swimming Bell on the track ‘Smoke Signals’ as well as cover artwork by legendary airbrush artist Jeff Wack.

The album release is preceded by the single ‘Flatbed Alfalfa Run to Pueblo, Colorado, Fall 1972’ on April 4, 2025. You can listen to the rather splendid new single here, whilst watching its accompanying video from Bobby Lee.
