NEWS: AtticOmatic share new single ‘Two Alarms’

Brighton’s AtticOmatic consistently resist easy, catch-all definitions. New single ‘Two Alarms’ weaves intimate indie-rock, soothing electronica and gliding neo-jazz into a touching reflection on the passing of childhood innocence.

Following the success of March single Wait, with multiple spins on New Music Fix (BBC Radio 6Music) and airplay on KEXP, ‘Two Alarms’ offers the second teaser from the band’s debut EP Fold The World released on 9th May and anticipates their biggest show headline show to date at Brighton’s Dust later that month.

Offering more on the track, Kamran Kaur from the band says: One morning before work I was dreaming that I was a toddler stumbling around the house to find my mum and dad. When mine and Lorcan’s alarms went off at the same time, I felt sad for our younger selves who had such big ideas for what our lives would be. I guess the song is about slipping in and out of that dream world and the waking world.’

With stylish, impressionistic electro riffs, dancing beneath lush vocals the charm of childhood wonder and the sliding cavernous tension of modern life is darkly and delicately evoked. It’s a work of art.

Forming in a house-share in Brighton around core songwriting duo Kamran Kaur and Lorcan Forder, (and including members of contemporaries Flip Top Head in its five-strong line up) Atticomatic have been moving from strength to strength. With just a string of singles to their name so far, the band have sold out numerous shows in their Brighton hometown, were personally invited by Nabihah Iqbal to support her at The 100 Club in September (she also spun the band on her curated BBC Radio 6Music special too), and have chalked up shows too with the likes of highschool, Whitelands, wonderbug, Hank, and TV Priest

With its title – and artwork – inspired by Lorcan’s step-dad’s origami creations, Fold The World explores the small things we do to shape our personal realities. Centred around the relationship between Lorcan and Kamran and their experiences of ADHD and Autism, each track on Fold The World creates its own wonderfully diverse pocket paradise, of love, life, and dreaming
