2024 Welsh Music Prize winner L E M F R E C K released his new single ‘Could Sin’ this week. With an unctuous beat and layered with vivid details, and his charismatic delivery that slips from sung groove to quickfire wordplay, L E M F R E C K’s new single is about frustration bubbling beneath the surface.
“Could sin is about the pure carnage of it all. No matter how much I try to become an adult who has their life together, at the end of the day the DNA is the DNA”, comments L E M F R E C K on his latest single.
The single features on his anticipated EP ‘We’ve Been Here’, out May 2nd via The Orchard, ahead of a busy summer festival season that includes appearances at The Great Escape, Primavera Sound, Focus Wales, and Love Trails, along with headline shows in London and Cardiff.
So far, L E M F R E C K has released excerpts from ‘We’ve Been Here’ in the form of singles ‘Stay Calm’, ‘Fine’, ‘Slip Away’, and ‘Come Outside En’. L E M F R E C K also recently appeared on BBC 6 Music’s Roundtable panel alongside Lucy Rose and Georgie Rogers.
Other achievements for L E M F R E C K include winning the 2024 Welsh Music Prize up against stiff competition from the likes of Skindred, Gruff Rhys, Slate, Elkka & more. L E M F R E C K comments on last year’s Welsh Music Prize win, “Winning the WMP is far bigger than my musical journey, the messages I’ve received from people who make music not necessarily associated with Wales who are now inspired and motivated is more than I could ask for. I’m simply just a representation of the importance of diversity in art.”
He also received a Welsh BAFTA nomination for his self-produced and directed BBC Documentary ‘Black Music Wales’ which featured the likes of Benji Webbe from Skindred, Jamie Jones, Mace the great, Juice Menace, Sage Todz, MC Eric & Technitronics.
