PODCAST: Show Me Magic with Andrew Gordon(CWRW bar & SLUSH)

Show Me Magic podcast, returns with a slightly refreshed format, for the latest episode Bill Cummings and Jim Auton are joined by Andrew Gordon. Andrew runs SLUSH, a community interest company promoting grassroots music in Wales. Starting in mid-2024 from CWRW in Carmarthen They talk SLUSH, new music, Welsh music, nostalgia, 90s noise, Garbage, The Strokes, dream pop, Goldfrapp, Animal Collective, the return of Pulp, they also look forward to Focus Wales and more!

SLUSH have platformed a large number of Welsh- and English- language artists with a heavy focus on emerging talent. Andrew still works as the lead in-house booker for CWRW as well as promoting music in Cardiff and curating stages at festivals. He is also a director of the recently-opened CWRW Studios recording space.Situated above the well-known CWRW music venue in Carmarthen, alongside the Tangled Parrot independent record store, this newly-opened studio will build on CWRW’s reputation as an award-winning space for grassroots music.

They say “As a community interest company purpose our is clear: to provide a vibrant, inspiring studio where emerging artists can hone their craft, unleash their creativity and discover their authentic voices. By providing high-end recording facilities and dedicated rehearsal space we will empower musicians to create and collaborate.”

The SLUSH stage at Focus Wales in Wrexham next weekend features:

MORN at The Parish Thursday 10:10pm

London-based Monmouth post-punkers MORN have recently played gigs for Speedy Wunderground and Sŵn, and come to Wrexham fresh from a string of sold-out London dates. Their debut single is about to be released.

Baby Schillaci at Penny Black Room 1 (XS) – Saturday 8:40pm

Drawing comparisons to Mclusky and Fugazi, Baby Schillaci’s debut album ‘The Soundtrack’ dropped in October and made the Top 25 of KEXP’s Best of 2024 list. 

On the GIITTV stage:em koko will play at The Parish on Thursday 8 May at 9:15pm.

Otto Aday  will play at Ty Pawb Flexible Space room on Saturday 10 May at 8:55pm

On June the 6th and 7th, SLUSH hosts a two dayer at CWRW to celebrate one year of of the promotion, with bands like Get Down Services, Pynch, British Birds, The Family Battenburg, Trust Fund and more.

On Saturday the 21st of June, SLUSH & GIITTV co-promote: Adjustments + The Cheeky Habibis.
