‘one of our tips for 2011… the sort of musical hybrid that might emerge should Bauhaus, Siouxsie and Bowie become trapped in Andre Delambre’s matter transporter.’

Von Pip Musical Express

North London post punk four-piece Islington Boys’ Club occupy their own territory between innovative and dark yet uplifting pop music.Vicously melodic post punk anthems doused with glamourously skyscraping melodies, serrating at the edges of pop music, with their howled cries of frustration and sexual esctacy. Their new single ‘Misfit Sugar’ is free to stream below!

They’ve been acquiring quite a reputation from their performances on the live scene, akin to a force of nature, with mesmeric front man Lovelee taking the lead. Mix that with thunderous tribal drumming and layered swirling guitars and Islington Boys’ Club have a sound and sense of doomed glamour that makes them stand out from the bland indie brigade by numbers.

Having recently toured the UK with Ulterior, whose remix of ‘Misfit Sugar’ is included as a free download as part of the release, they have also shared stages with the likes of O.Children and Dark Horses.

‘Misfit Sugar’ was written, performed, recorded and produced by the band: Andy Lovelee, Daniel Silvester Taylor-Lind, Drew Kennedy, Ed Pearson, in their rehearsal space, a converted church in North London it was mixed by James Aparicio (Grinderman, Liars, Spirtualized, These New Puritans) at Error Room 2.

‘Misfit Sugar’ will be available as a FREE download from 11th April, alongside the official remix from Ulterior as well as remixes of the last single ‘Pristine/ Plastic 16’ from O.Children and Tellison, which is available on 7” vinyl and digital download nationally.
