We managed to catch up with Verses just before their last tour.  Find out how they felt about touring with Lost Alone, their upcoming album release  and what they miss most while being on tour.

Hi Guys,  hope you’re well? You’re about to go on tour, are you looking forward to being on the road for that length of time?

Yeah we are! It’s always great to get on the road for quite a while. Sometimes on a really short run it feels like it’s ended just as you’re starting to really get in the zone, which can be frustrating!

Is this your biggest tour so far? It must be exciting to be supporting LostAlone?

It is! They’re a great band and such a nice bunch of dudes.

Will you be showcasing songs from new album?

We sure will! We’ve been playing a couple of these songs live since last summer, and they’ve been going down great, but it’s really exciting to finally be sneaking a few more into the set.

The album is out on May 26th and is called ‘Feel It Faster’ – what’s the meaning behind that title?

It comes from the line in the opening title track “We all just want to feel it faster”, and it’s basically about searching for happiness, but it’s about learning to deal with the fact that it doesn’t come easy or quickly for most people. That’s a theme that runs through a lot of the album…enjoying the ride and not just wishing for the destination.

Are you nervous about the release?

We’re definitely more excited than nervous! Obviously there is pressure but we couldn’t be more proud of these songs we’re putting out there.

Where have you been recording it and how long did it take you?  – Did anything funny/ weird happen in the studio?

We spent a week out in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Oxfordshire tracking drums and bass. It was cool, there were no distractions, not even any phone signal! We lived there the whole time and it was amazing! Then we spent two weeks tracking at Longwave in Cardiff, which is our producer Romesh’s own studio. Cardiff feels like a second home to us so it’s always fun to live there for a couple of weeks!

So what’s next for Verses?

We’re putting out one more single from the album before the album is actually released. And we’re going to just be touring as much as possible and doing some great festivals like Hit The Deck, 2000 Trees, Camden Rocks. It’s all going on, it’s an incredibly exciting time!

Do you have a bucket list as a band, and if so what’s number one on the list?

Touring with a band like Foo Fighters would be like the ultimate dream for us! They’ve been idols of ours since we were kids.

Will you be making any weird requests for your tour rider?

Haha, we’re not quite at the diva stage just yet but one day we’ll start requesting all kinds of stuff. Maybe we’ll ask for four horses, four suits of armour and four swords so we can ride around like knights in our dressing room before the show. Because our dressing room will be that big, obviously!

What do you/ will you miss most while being on tour?

Well obviously we all miss our friends and family back home, and at the moment we all sleep in our van on tour. So I guess having some personal space and not sleeping in a bunk in close proximity to a load of blokes is something I miss! Our drummer Dan is a father now too, so he definitely misses his son and fiance when we’re on the road!

Thank you very much guys, have fun on tour, and good luck with the album release!
