NEWS: Toro Y Moi shares live ‘Grown Up Calls’ video from upcoming concert film

In April, Chaz Bundick, better known as psych-funk artist Toro Y Moi, ventured into the Mojave Desert to film a concert.  The film is set to become both a concert movie (Toro Y Moi: Live From Trona) as well as a Live From Trona album.  Nine time Vimeo Staff Picks director Harry Israelson was on hand to direct the experience – often breaking the fourth wall, inserting behind-the-scenes footage and hand drawn animation to add to the experience.  This also means that it’s the first time Vimeo have been directly involved in the making of a concert film.

The collection is set to feature unique arrangements and new, often jazz fusion versions from the band’s back catalogue, featuring an expanded band line-up.  The 13 tracks were recorded across the course of one day, with the film showing the passage of time throughout.  A new version of the track ‘Grown Up Calls’ is set at night, with the band bathed in red and purple light and the distinctive Trona Pinnacles still visible in the background.  Watch below.
